Dear friends of the Sycamore Trust,
Easter is over but we're as busy as ever at the Sycamore Trust. Don't forget, you can keep up with all the news on our website at www.sycamoretrust.org.uk or by following us @sycamoretrust on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. If you don't do social media, do not despair, there's still good old fashioned email!
Alpha Club out & about
Our Alpha Club members celebrated the end of their first module with a trip to Lakeside Shopping Centre this week. The combined all their new found travel & social skills to plan the journey, navigate the route and their reward was a trip to a fast food outlet for tea! The new life skills programme has been a great success and we're starting an identical project in Dagenham – details here: http://www.sycamoretrust.org.uk/latest/article/The-Hunger-Games%21
Time for chocolate!
We're very grateful to our friends at Time FM in Romford for their kind donation of Easter eggs for some of the young people in our clubs and groups. Each year, Time FM 107.5 collect donated chocolate eggs and distribute them to local groups and charities and as we're neighbours, they dropped in a few boxes for us. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
Reach for the sky!
Let's be honest, if you thought that Ray Robertson was bonkers for promising to jump out of a plane, you probably weren't alone. After all, there must be easier ways to raise money for charity. But Ray decided that this was the right option and his sky dive took place just before Easter. Best news – he made it back safely! Going the extra (26) miles!
Whilst we're talking about fund -raising, don't forget that Andrew Ghagan is running the London Marathon this Sunday to raise funds for the Sycamore Trust. Andrew's nephew Rico was among the first intake of children on the SWAP project last September and Uncle Andrew wanted to thank us for all the help we were able to offer Rico by running the Marathon! He has set himself a target of £1,000 and he's almost there! Help him get a bit closer by clicking here: http://www.sycamoretrust.org.uk/latest/article/Marathon-man%21
Keep fit for cash!
The Zumba fitness class on Easter Saturday was a huge success, with over £500 raised for Sycamore Trust funds. Thank you to all the instructors who arranged the event and took the class as well as everyone who took part in the 90 minute dance session. With any luck, there will be another one soon!
